Sony has released a new prosumer camcorder the NEX-VG10. It incorporates an interchangeable lens that is primarily a video camera with still camera features, and may sway you from purchasing a Canon EOS 7D for video purposes. Engadget describes Sony's new handycam "For all intents and purposes, this is Micro Four Thirds for your camcorder, but since Olympus and Panasonic own that specific technology, Sony's left calling the NEX-VG10 an "interchangeable lens HD camcorder.""
The NEX-VG10 incorporates an Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor (the same one found in the NEX-5 and NEX-3), and will deliver 1080p at 24 frames per second and a 14.2 megapixel still. The interchangeable lens system will accept both the E-mount and A-mount lenses.
Additional features include a 3-inch swivel display, a Quad Capsule Spatial Array Stereo Microphone, Optical Steadyshot image stabilization, BIONZ processor and twin accessory shoes.
However, with no internal storage it will accept SDHC / SDXC which can accept up to 2 terabytes of storage.
